The One Tree Hotel between Hay and Booligal stands on a red earth claypan surrounded by a plain stretching to the horizon. Truly one of the great outback style locations of Australia. Superb location to convey isolation, desolation. Pub stands alone amid a seemingly endless plain. In summer the surrounding country is frequently barren red brown earth. Hay also has splendid examples of farming architecture on a grand scale, particularly shearing sheds. Surrounding countryside is largely flat and has impressive waterways for use as locations. Also excellent area for seemingly endless stretches of straight road.
